Accusing the police of sheltering rapists and the involved lady, victim of Channi Himmat gang rape case today leveled serious allegations against the police department for ‘harassing and threatening’ her to withdraw the case.
Victim uttered that just to save the accused lady who is indeed a ‘sex worker’ and one of the rapists who is close relative of a Station House Officer (SHO), the entire police department is trying to hush-up the case in lieu of which amount of Rs 5 lakh has also offered to her.
“Even after my court statement the ASP harassed me by doing my videography via his mobile phone camera that too while asking absurd questions deliberately in police station” she added.
She said that her medical examination was conducted after three days and was asked by the ASP to drop her clothes-as a part of evidence, herself at police station which she was wearing during the night of the incident. The victim also alleged that the female advocate of the accused is also harassing her and has even offered Rs 5 lakh in lieu of withdrawing the case.
“When I reached the police station after the incident, instead of registering complaint police misbehaved with me and later they forcibly took my signatures on plain paper. They threatened me to withdraw the case after my statement in court and now the female advocate is also harassing me and openly offered me Rs 5 lakh in lieu of stepping back,” said victim.
She disclosed that she is a resident of Ludhiana and was staying in Jammu at Kasim Nagar for study purposes and was also doing part time job in a private company. The accused lady who was her neighbor took her to Channi Himmat by citing some casual reason where she was eventually gang raped by three men who were already sitting in the room hired by the accused lady, victim claimed.
Worthy to mention here that after the registration of case two of the accused identified as Jitender Singh alias Neetu, son of Harnam Singh, resident of Sainik Colony and Sanjay Kumar, son of Gopal Dass, resident of Akhnoor were arrested by police while third accused Bobby is still absconding.
A case under FIR number 94/16 under Section 376/120-B/RPC was registered at Channi Himmat Police Station against the accused while the female accused is also in police custody but the stunning disclosures made the victims are raising question mark over the working and intension of police.
