Superfast-Malwa & Ahmedabad-Somnath Express trains made to halt for an hour in Kathua
Kathua, April 11: Two passenger trains were forced to halt here for about one and half hour after a Supervisor and a Gangman clashed over a minor issue at Buddhi Railway Station here today.
The situation turned uglier after Supervisor handed over the Gangman to Government Railway Police (GRP). Irate over the detention of their colleague, the other gangmen stopped the rail traffic by putting red cloth on the track and started protest demonstration. The Gangman raised slogans against Railway Police and demanded action against the Supervisior and police personnel. “The Supervisor after minor verbal argument with the Gangman over sanctioning of holiday lodged complaint with the police who detained their colleague and taken to Chowki where he was beaten mercilessly,” alleged protesting gangman. The Supervisior Santosh misused his power through police who under his influence beat Gangman Arvind Kumar so mercilessly, they further alleged.
The Superfast Malwa Express and Ahmedabad-Somnath Express trains had to halt for about one and a half hour due to the commotion created at Kathua Railway Station. The trains finally left for their destinations after Station House Officer (SHO) Railway Police, Kathua pacified the gangman and released their colleague.
