Coined by Pak, NC’s kamal uses ‘puppet govt’ term for J&K govts

In what could be termed as comical statement, Additional General Secretary of National Conference Dr. Mustafa Kamal today used ‘puppet governments’ term for governments which were formed in Jammu and Kashmir from the year 1953 to 1975.

He said that New Delhi has systematically and brazenly violated these solemn agreements through puppet governments from 1953 to 1975 to the detriment of people’s welfare, peace and stability of the region. With both countries being nuclear powers, Kamal said that now there is a threat to world peace as well not withstanding three wars fought over Kashmir by the two countries till date.

In a statement issued here today, Kamal said that it was peace agreement brokered by united  Nations between  the two  armies  of India and Pakistan in 1948 at the  behest  of New Delhi that gave pakistan possession  of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) and has stationed UNMOGIP ( United Nations military  observers group  in India and Pakistan to  oversee  the implementation  and sanctity of the truce.

He added that due to the delaying tactics of India and unilateral violations of UN resolutions by Pakistan, Kashmir Problem continues to hang fire and defy an amicable settlement of this festering wound and painful legacy of the partition of the Indian sub-continent in 1947 at the end of the British Imperial rule in India and added that main victim of this unfinished agenda of partition has been the people of J&K.

To set house in order, Dr. Kamal said that India should honour legal and constitutional framework set out by the instrument of accession of Maharaja Hari Singh way back in 1947 and based on it the Delhi agreement of 1952 and Article 370 of the Indian constitution as they stood. In view of the rigid posturing of both and stubborn attitude of India, Dr. Kamal said that it is time to give a thought to the sane and golden advice   of late Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah.

He reiterated that Kashmir issue is basically a human  problem  let J&K state  be a bridge of peace and friendship between  India and Pakistan  and soften borders for hassle free trade  and travel between the two parts  and that the lines  showing India and Pakistan  as separate countries on the map should not divide hearts  and minds  of the people of these two countries.

With the death of Nehru his trip to Pakistan and Azad Kashmir was cut short and this effort by sheikh Sahab of India-Pak reconciliation over Kashmir failed to take off except for a half-hearted and cosmetic cross-LOC trade and travel during NDA rule of Bharat Ratna Atal Behari Vajpayee of 2005, said Dr. Mustafa Kamal. He stressed that Pakistan bashing by New Delhi will only increase and encourage acrimony.

“New Delhi should remember the Golden words of Bharat Ratna Atal Behari Vajpayee that “ You can change  friends but not neighbours” which he said on LOC at Teetwal in Karnah area of Kashmir addressing a public meeting on his first  visit after taking over as PM of the NDA government in 1999,” reminded Dr. Kamal.  He added that he still remembers the words of Bharat Ratna Atal Behari Vajpayee in 1977 as foreign Minister in Morarji Desai government that “Kashmir Problem has been created by the congress and he will see to it that it is settled amicably”.
