Committees constituted to finalise syllabus for Shastri classes

The 19th meeting of Governing Council for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul, Charan Paduka, Katra was held at Spiritual Growth Centre here and several important decisions were taken to develop this institution as a Centre of Excellence. Dr S S Bloeria, Member of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Council for Gurukul, chaired the meeting. Prof Y K Mishra; Prof Vishwamurti Shastri; A K Sahu, Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB; Dr M K Kumar, Additional CEO; Hem Kant Prasher, Chief Accounts Officer; Pankaj Gupta, Dy. CEO and Administrator of Gurukul;
and Gopal Dass Sharma, Head Pujari, Bhawan participated in the meeting.
CEO read out a message received from Governor NN Vohra, Chairman of the Shrine Board, who has congratulated the students, Senior Acharya, Acharyas and Teachers on the Gurukul’s outstanding performance in the various examinations conducted during the academic session 2015-16.
Dr Bloeria and Members of the Governing Council appreciated the laudable achievements of the students in academics and extra-curricular activities and emphasised the need for continuing endeavours being made to develop the Gurukul as a reputed institution.
CEO informed that at present 136 students, studying in VI to XII classes in this fully
residential Gurukul, are being provided education, boarding, lodging, uniforms, books etc entirely free of cost.
Reviewing the construction of Phase-II of the Gurukul,
Dr Bloeria underscored the need for its timeline completion and, for this purpose, the Governing Body set up an Operationalisation Committee to look into all aspects of Gurukul Phase-II being completed and made functional.
The Governing Body also decided to set up an Academic Committee to finalise syllabus, schedule of day to day activities, time table for students and related issues. The Committee shall furnish its report to the Governing Council before its next meeting scheduled to be held on 16 December 2016. It is pertinent to mention that the classes for Shastri Course i.e. Graduation level, will be started in the 2017-18 session. For this purpose, a Hostel Block for students and Acharya Block for the Faculty, a temple and a Yagyashalla are being constructed.
To impart soft skills and creative writing techniques to the students, the Gurukul will bring out an Annual Magazine from next year in which articles written by students of this institution will be published. Similarly, from the ensuing Navratras an in-house newsletter will also be brought out by the students of Gurukul for internal distribution.
