A complete shutdown was observed in district Doda and other parts of Chenab valley by the members of particular community in protest against the killing of three dozen civilians in Kashmir.The shops and other business establishments of particular community remained completely closed in all the major towns of District Doda including Bhaderwah, Doda, Thathri, Ghat and Bhalessa . However, traffic was also affected while government offices and banks remained open.
The Bandh call against the coalition government for their alleged atrocities in Kashmir valley against civilians during last one week was given by Anjuman Islamia Bhaderwah, Anjuman Islamia Gandoh and Masjid Committee Thathri and Imam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar.
“We have appealed for peaceful bandh today against the security forces and collation government for killing and torturing the innocent civilians in Kashmir during last couple of days,” said Anjuman Islamia Bhadarwah President Pervaiz Ahmed Sheikh.”Our shutdown call is also to show our resentment and to lodge a strong protest against the union government, communal forces and bias media for leveling false allegations and communally motivated propaganda against Kashmiri community ,” he added.
He said that bandh call was also given to register the protest against the killing in Kashmir. Meanwhile, besides complete shutdown, people of Bhaderwah and Kishtwar also participated in the peacefully protest rally which passed through their main markets raising anti government slogans .”This is not a religious procession but we are here to lodge our protest purely on humanitarian grounds for the innocent Kashmiris, who were brutally tortured and killed by the security forces after Burhan’s assassination,” said Farooq Ahmed Kichloo Imam Jamia Masjid ,Kishtwar.
“We would have lodged a similar protest if any innocent non-Muslim would have been killed or tortured. coalition government has put humanity to shame in Kashmir valley,” he added.
As precautionary major, extra security deployment was made in all major towns of district Doda to avert any untoward incident. However, bandh passed off peacefully without any reported
