Congress asks ruling BJP to clear stand on establishment of Sainik Colony in Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) general secretary and former minister Manjit Singh asked ruling BJP to clear its stand on the establishment of Sainik Colony.
As per a press statement, JKPCC general secretary questioned BJP leadership why they have compromised on the stand which they took before the formation of Government in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has categorically denied setting up of Sainik Colony in Kashmir recently in Legislative Assembly which has exposed the false campaign of the power hungry BJP.
BJP being alliance has become mute spectator and is unable to establish Sainik Colony in Kashmir even for the soldiers holding State Subject.
“They were claiming earlier that not only State residents but Indian army personnel from across the Country who served in Jammu and Kashmir,” alleged Manjit Singh.
He further said that BJP has diluted from its stand only to remain in power. “The power hungry BJP has betrayed ex-army men.
The BJP leaders have adopted a policy of silence,” he alleged.
Former Minister appealed that Government to consider the long pending demands of the soldiers and establish a Sainik colony like it is established in Jammu.
In Jammu, the former soldiers have been putting up from across the State and no non-state subject residing here. Since it would provide homes to the ex-servicemen from Kashmir and Ladakh as well, he said, Government should consider the long pending demand and establish a residential Colony for ex-servicemen.
“We cannot forget the sacrifices made by the Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir especially its resident soldiers. It becomes duty of the State Government to provide them plots for the constriction of their houses,” he said.
During three months of Governor Rule, JKPCC general secretary said, NN Vohra had held meeting with ex-servicemen and land was also identified for the establishment of Sainik Colony in Kashmir.
“Now CM Mehbooba Mufti has changed her statement under pressure from the separatists and said her Government has no plan to establish residential colony, while BJP has become mute spectator over the issue,” he said.
