Congress leader Tariq Bhat resigns, joins NC

Senior Congress leader Tariq Bhat resigned as district general secretary Reasi Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) as well as the party and joined National Conference (NC), at a simple but impressive function held here the other day.

Bhat joined back NC along with his supporters in large number, today, in the presence of party stalwarts including patron Dr Farooq Abdullah and president Omar Abdullah. Also present on the occasion were MLA Nagrota and Jammu Provincial President Devender Singh Rana, State Vice-President NC Rattan Lal Gupta, S Peter, vice-president of the National Christian Dalit Council, chairman of J&K Christian Dalit Society and former political advisor to Dr Farooq Abdullah then Chief Minister.

Expressing full faith on Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, Bhat said he was joining back NC because he feels, “National Conference is the only party that can guarantee unity of Jammu and Kashmir and steer the state to peace, progress and prosperity. It is NC only which works for the welfare and uplift of the poor and downtrodden in the state.”
