J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) general secretaries Shahnawaz Choudhary and Choudhary Shah Mohammad (Advocate) today condemned the brutal attack on nomad family in Reasi and lambasted the state government for the failure to protect the innocent citizens. Addressing the media persons here at JKPCC’s headquarter, both the leaders expressed serious concern over the manhandling of the poor nomad family in which the accused persons in police presence carried out deadly attack on them. Police personnel did nothing to control the situation and to save the lives of the nomads instead; they allegedly facilitated the attack on them by becoming mute spectators. Even as eleven persons involved in deadly attack on the nomads were arrested, they quoting a news report said, ten out of eleven have been released from the police custody on bail which shows how much concerned the Government is about the safety of innocent people and supports right wing people who are hell bent to hurt communal brotherhood. They appealed the people of different section of society to maintain communal harmony among themselves. “The situation has become alarming after the coalition government especially BJP has come to power. They have lone motive to divide society for their political interests. This type of politics will damage basic fabric of the society and has created mistrust among the people believing in different faiths,” they added.
Expressing serious concern over repeated attacks on Gujjars-Bakerwals in Jammu division, they said that there seems to be a planned effort to divide the people of the State on religious lines which will have grave livelihood consequences for Gujjars-Bakerwals who traverse different regions of the state biannually. He demanded adequate security arrangements on National Highway and other traditional routes for safe movement of tribals.
