The Indian National Congress Jammu today paid floral tributes to the former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi on his 76th birth anniversary.
Raman Bhalla, speaking on the occasion, lauded unmatched contributions of the late PM towards the country.
He said that his leadership led India towards progress, development and modernisation which was a result of his dedication and love for the country. Rajiv Gandhi laid the foundation of a modern India. He left an imprint of modernity.
He said that Rajiv Gandhi had made his biggest contribution towards education by expanding, revamping and bringing new policies for the education sector. He was an extremely passionate and also smart leader who knew how to tap into the potentialities of the Indian Public and understood the needs of the time.
Talking about his contributions to the IT sector, Bhalla stated Rajiv Gandhi had once said, “India missed the Industrial Revolution; it cannot afford to miss the Computer Revolution”. Rajiv Gandhi is the ‘Father of Information Technology and Telecom Revolution of India’. He is rightfully known as the architect of digital India.
Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma also spoke on the occasion and remembered the late leader as a great visionary. He said that Gandhi had been the one who endorsed modernisation and liberalisation in the real sense. He did great in the field of IT and telecom, education and formed strong pillars for our present society to stand on.
Ravinder Sharma further explained that the 73rd and 74th Amendment Acts which founded the Panchayati raj and municipalities as constitutional bodies, it was Rajiv Gandhi’s works which are credited for laying the foundation of Panchayati Raj institutions in order to take democracy to the grassroots level. He also said that Rajiv Gandhi was one of the greatest Prime Ministers the country had seen and his legacy will continue to inspire the youth of today and tomorrow.
