Constable taking money from beggar suspended in Ramban

Setting an example of policing and asserting that Rule of the Land of Law equal for
everyone, Ramban Police today ordered suspension of a head constable, who was seen
snatching money from a beggar after a video of his went viral on social media.
A head constable of Jammu and Kashmir Police was suspended and legal action initiated
against him by the department after a video clip of him taking money from a beggar
sitting along the roadside in Ramban district went viral.
“Action has been initiated against accused cop identified as Head Constable Munawar
Hussain, hailing from Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district,” a senior police official here
He said that due to his notorious activities, he was transferred from Kishtwar to Ramban,
adding, “his spouse and son had also been to Ramban to keep eye on his activities.”
“In view of his notorious activities, his salary account is being carried on by his son and
wife,” police officer said and added that he was also under close surveillance for the last
one-week for reformation, but he instead unauthorisedly got absent.
“Soon after his video went viral on social media, the Constable was taken into custody
and got medically examined in which it was found that he was under the influence of
alcohol,” said the officer.
The cop had been booked under various sections at different police stations of Kishtwar.

They further said that on written complaint of one lady namely Dhamali, wife of
Ghoutoya, resident of Jaipur, Rajasthan (vendor), a case under FIR number 125/2017
under section 382 of RPC has been registered against the head constable and in
connection with the snatching of Rs100 from the lady, police said.
