Cracker shops put PM’s letter on display against China made crackers

Prime MinisterNarendra Modi’s message appealing for the use of indigenous crackers has been displayed at fire cracker shops to express solidarity with the call for not using made in China crackers, this Diwali.

A display board with the picture of Prime Minister at Halalpura wholesale cracker market, in nutshell, said, “If you want Chinese crackers, sorry we do not deal in them. We only deal in Indian products.” However, on August 31, PMO tweeted that some letters with a message undersigned by him are being circulated on social media to boycott Chinese products, which is not authentic.

But, Daulatram Sabnani, president of Wholesale Fireworks association, Bhopal claimed that the message has been downloaded from government website after discussing within other members of the association.

The letter has been asked to be pasted on all the shops after the decision taken byWholesale Fireworks owners association. “We support Prime Minister and this is the reason we have asked all the dealers to get rid of China made crackers. Anyone found selling them will not be supported,” said Sabnani.


Not only this, some of the dealers even have crackers bearing the logo “Make in India”.

“We have tried to put the logo of Make in India on all the crackers and toy pistols. Those which do not have the logo have been checked with manufacturers and made sure that they do not contain Chinese content,” said Mohammad Saqib, another cracker wholesaler at Halalpura market.
“No doubt make in India crackers are costlier than Chinese ones, but at least we are sure that we are not filling the pockets of other country. As this message has been circulated in schools also by teachers and management, children themselves want to try Indian crackers,” said Meenalal Kushwaha, a buyer at Bairagarh fireworks shop.
