Day 28: Authorities impose strict curfew to foil ‘Dargah Chalo’

Curfew and protest shutdown continued in Kashmir on Friday for the 28th consecutive day.
Over 80 people including four women protestors sustained injuries due to pellets and tear-gas shelling in clashes on Thursday.
Authorities have imposed curfew and restrictions under section 144 CrPc (Criminal Procedure Code) in Shopian, Kulgam, Pulwama, Anantnag, Baramulla and Srinagar.
Reports from various areas said that a strict curfew has been imposed today to foil a proposed march to Hazratbal Shrine by pro-freedom leadership.
Fifty-three people — 51 civilians and two policemen — were killed in the present unrest in the Valley following the killing of Hizbul commander, Burhan Wani in a gunfight on July 8.
