Day-51; Curfew continues in SeK, down town, Pulwama only

Though curfew continued only in Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) and down town in Srinagar besides Pulwama and Pampore main towns, elsewhere in the Kashmir valley restrictions on assembly of people under Section 144 CrPC will remain inforce to prevent any law and order problem.
However, life remained crippled for the 51st consecutive day today in the Kashmir valley due to strike called by separatists since July 9, a day after Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) commander Burhan Wani and two other militants were killed in an encounter in with security forces in Anantnag.
Both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference (HC) and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), spearheading the agitation after the death of Burhan have, in the latest protest calendar, extended the strike call till September Ist against the killing of 70 persons and injuries to about 6000 others.
However, there was no “Protest or Challo” call today by the separatists who have asked local masjid committee in all villages and localities to visit each and every household and prepare a list of needy and also visit and prepare list of the families of martyrs and injured and make arrangements for their support.
The joint separatist group had announced that there will be relaxation in the strike from 1800 hrs to 0600 hrs tomorrow morning.
As per reports, Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and state police personnel deployed in strength to prevent any demonstration or procession.
Entire Srinagar district was under curfew since Friday to prevent “Azadi March” to Eidgah and yesterday the separatists had announced to march to Headquarters (HQ) of 15 Corps at Badami Bagh Cantonment and urge GOC and other Army officers to leave Kashmir.
