DB directs SPCB to clearly indicate air pollution level in Jammu measured at different locations

Jammu Tawi, April 10
In a Public Interest Litigation pertaining to poor working of State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), the Division Bench of State High Court, Jammu, comprising of Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed and Justice Alok Aradhe today directed that SPCB shall clearly indicate the air pollution level in Jammu measured at different locations. Besides, it shall specifically indicate the level of PM10 and PM2.5 as also other pollutants. The affidavit shall also indicate the number of pollution control centers in Jammu, if any. The samples of the water at different locations from the river Tawi shall be taken and result thereof shall be indicated. The PIL was filed by Advocate Rajinder Singh Jamwal regarding highlighting the poor working of State Pollution Control Board. The petition pointed out that in the absence of pollution check at government laboratory level most of the industrial units have seek help from private laboratories for getting the sample tested which is in violation of law because no authenticity has been attached to these reports. A Division Bench of  State High Court Comprising Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed and Justice Alok Aradhe after hearing Adv Rajinder Singh Jamwal in person whereas Deputy AG A H Bhat appearing for the Pollution control Board directed that counsel appearing for the PCB shall file an affidavit within one week.
