DC Baramulla visits Pattan, takes stock of Muharram arrangements

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo today visited several adjoining areas of Pattan to take stock of various necessary arrangements put in place for the smooth celebration of upcoming Muharram-ul-Harram.

The DC inspected several Imambaras located at Ahmadpora, Cheenabal, Yakmanpora, Divar and at other places to take first hand appraisal of various necessities.

He interacted with the representatives of some Shia associations and they appraised him about their needs and demands pertaining to Muharram celebration, they also expressed gratitude to the DC for visiting the area and listening to their grievances.

Dr Itoo said that special arrangements have been made in view of the present circumstances emerged due to COVID-19 outbreak and directed the concerned officers to provide uninterrupted water and power supply during the auspicious days.

The DC directed all the departments to work in tandem so that Muharram Mourners may not face any inconvenience.

He also directed the Municipal authorities to fumigate all the vital locations viz Imam Baras and masjids.

The DC directed the health authorities to make adequate arrangements and organize special camps for distributing face masks, sanitizers and immunity boosting medicines and appealed people to follow all the related SOPs and guidelines to avoid getting infected of COVID-19.

The DC during the visit was accompanied by SDM Pattan and various other concerned officers.
