DC reviews progress of Jhelum dredging

The Deputy Commissioner who was accompanied by Superintending Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Muhammad Lateef and AEE Sub Division Srinagar inspected the dredging sites at Soiteng, Gandbal, Shivpora, Abdullah Bridge and Noorbagh.
The officers informed the Deputy Commissioner that 92,000 cubic meters have been dredged so far out of the total target of 140,000 cubic meters.
Dr Lone asked the officers to expedite the dredging process so that carrying capacity of the river increases besides bottle necks across the river are removed. He said that dredging on large scale will begin soon in second phase of the process wherein the target of dredging seven lakh cubic meters of the river has been fixed.
