DCPC reviewed district need assessment on child protection

District Child Protection Committee (DCPC) today convened a meeting to discuss functioning of the committee, especially with regard to Juvenile Justice.
The meeting was attended by AS Chib ADDC Rajouri, Mumtaz Ali ADC Rajouri, Abdul Qayoom Mir ACR Rajouri, CPO Rajouri, Rajiv Khajuria Founder Emeritus NDF, CEO Rajouri, Principal DIET Rajouri, District Social Welfare Officer Rajouri, DEPO Rajouri, Assistant Labour Commissioner Rajouri, CDPOS, ZEOs and civil
society members.
The programme was organised by National Development Foundation & UNICEF in collaboration with District Administration Rajouri. Rajiv Khajuria Founder Emeritus NDF presented a detailed overview of JJ Act and ICPS scheme. He discussed in brief about the various provisions laid down under the JJ Act and ICPS scheme. Parvinder Singh Programme Manager NDF and Sunny Kumar presented a detailed overview of District Need Assessments (DNA) draft and shared the findings of the study among the participants. DNA, district need assessment of Rajouri district is conducted by NDF and UNICEF through a Delhi based technical agency LEHER. The report was shared with the participants for their feedback for final printing as the report will be an important tool for the district administration to finalize the district action plan to deal with child related issues. Various child related issues including child labour, substance abuse, child marriage, corporal punishment and status of child protection mechanisms and services in the district are documented in the report. Participants raised various child protection issues in the district and important decisions to strengthen child protection mechanism were also taken during the meeting.
