DDC Anantnag reviews yatra arrangements

District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah today convened a meeting of officers to review the preparedness of various departments for the upcoming Shri Amarnathji Yatra (SANJY 2016) commencing this July.
The meeting was attended by ADDC Anantnag, Muhammad Younis Malik, SDM Pahalgam, CEO PDA, CMO Anantnag, SE R&B, SE PHE, Executive Engineer I&FC, Executive Engineer PDD, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Assistant Labour Commissioner, AD Fire and Emergency Services besides officers from Tourism, Forest and other related departments.
The officers concerned informed the meeting about the arrangements put in place en route holy cave including drinking water supply, medicare facilities, telephone connectivity, electricity supply, sanitation, transportation, supply of essential food items, kerosene and LPG and establishment of joint control room besides registration of ponies and shopkeepers.
The District Development Commissioner also sought action taken reports from the departments associated with SANJY 2016 regarding the decisions taken in the previous meetings.
He instructed the officers to enhance their efforts and mobilize their resources so that adequate arrangements are put up before the Yatra commences.
Executive Engineer PDD informed the meeting about installation of 6 additional hi-mass lights at designated locations besides installing generators at 17 locations.
It was informed that 4122 ponies, 170 shops, and 2350 tents have been registered in Pahalgam so far.
The DDC directed the officer incharge BSNL to provide STD and ISD facilities at PCOs each at Mirbazar, Pahalgam, Panjtirini, Sheshnag and holy cave for the pilgrims besides providing adequate number of satellite phones for emergency communication.
To ensure safety of people engaged in various commercial services along the route, the DDC directed the concerned departments to install adequate number labour shelters. He directed AD Fire and Emergency to deploy fire tenders, each at Nunwan base camp, Chandanwari, FCI godown, and walnut factory Mirbazar to mitigate any exigency.
