District Development Commissioner Kathua Ramesh Kumar today inaugurated a non-formal education block in Govt. Degree College Kathua. The new block shall house various offices of IGNOU, Distance and Jammu University Sub Office.
It was highly necessitated to construct rooms for such offices near the college main gate in order to avoid any untoward incident and heavy rush due to the entry of Distance and IGNOU students.
Keeping in view the indiscipline created due to the movement of student’s during college working hours for meeting with IGNOU, Distance and University official’s of the college for filling their forms, submission of their assignments and other problems regarding their enrolments etc.
DC Kathua Ramesh Kumar congratulated the students and staff of the college for the new block, which shall facilitate the students and their parents for getting any sort of information regarding non-formal education and that too just from near the college main gate. He said that this block shall avoid unnecessary rush in the main blocks of the college and thus the studies of the students shall not be hampered.
DC Kathua also inaugurated the ‘Biometric Attendance System’ of the college, which shall provide more fool proof attendance of the college employees.
Principal of the college Dr. Nater Singh said that a suitable place for such construction was already available in the college near the main gate in the form of College Cycle Stand, which was outdated these days because of the change of trends and mind set of students from cycle to scooty or motorcycle. One more aspect of using this building for construction of rooms was the already present roof top of the building which was easily utilized for constructing this building comprising of four rooms and thus providing the much needed infrastructure for the growth and development of NAAC ‘A’ Grade college. He also disclosed that present building constructed from the internal sources in the shape of material and financial resources of the college.
