DDC Reasi inspects railway construction sites

District Development Commissioner Ravinder Kumar today visited various Railway construction sites and listened to the issues of the locals.
The residents of Bakkal- the site of world’s highest Railway Bridge, and other adjoining panchayats apprised the DDC of numerous problems like depletion of natural sources of water due to tunneling work, locations of dumping yards damaging the agricultural land. They also demanded employment to local youths in the ongoing railway works besides other issues.
The DDC gave a patient hearing to grievances of the public and assured to take necessary measures to resolve their issues.
The DDC directed Deputy Chief Engineer Konkan Railway to engage two water tankers round the clock to provide safe drinking water at various locations as per the demand of the locals. He also asked Executive Engineer PHE Dharmari and Railway authorities to conduct joint inspection in the area and submit a comprehensive techno-feasible plan for restoration of the depleted water sources.
He also directed Ex-en PHE and Chief Agriculture Officer Reasi for testing quality of water and soil as farmers complaint poor productivity.
The DDC also directed various agencies involved in the construction work to adhere to the guidelines and only use identified yards for dumping of excavated debris. He asked DFO Reasi and Tehsildar Bhomag to ensure compliance in this regard.
Responding to the demand of locals, the Deputy Chief engineer KRCL assured to engage maximum local youth in the railway construction works. .
People of the area appreciated the prompt action and disposal of various issues on the spot by DDC Reasi. DFO Reasi, Tehsildar Bhomag Deputy Chief Engineer Konkan Railway, Exen PHE, Exen PWD among various Sectoral officers accompanied the District Development Commissioner during the visit.
