Srinagar, December 2
District Development Commissioner Bandipora today convened a meeting with Lead Bank and District Managers of various banks of the district to review the matters related to availability of cash at banks, e-banking, linkage of Aadhaar with bank accounts and centrally sponsored programme stand-up India. Reviewing the digital mode of payment and use of credit/debit cards in business establishments, it was given out that banks have kept ‘Point of Sale’ (PoS) machines available for which business establishments can apply for purchase of the PoS machines from J&K Bank, SBI, Axis and HDFC banks during office hours in the district.
The meeting also reviewed the pace of linkage of Aadhaar numbers with bank accounts. It was said that three lakh Aadhaar cards have been issued so far which constitutes 60% of the total population of the district.
The DDC directed the Bank Managers to organise digital banking awareness camp at Bandipora and Sonawari.
While reviewing the Stand-up India programme, it was given out that each bank branch would provide loan facilities of Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 1 crore to one SC/ST and one women borrower for setting up of a new enterprise.
