DDC reviews developmental scenario of Kulgam

Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat, today chaired a meeting to review the progress of DDB decisions and Chief Minister’s commitments regarding the overall development of the district. The meeting was attended by SE PHE, CEO Aharbal Development Authority, Xens of R&B, PDD, I&FC, PMGSY, district
officers of Health, Education, Social Welfare, Labour, Agriculture, Horticulture, Floriculture, Forests, Industries, Sericulture Departments. It was said that for the year 2016-17, Rs 123.64 crore were approved out of which Rs 42.41 crore were made available and Rs 28.80 crores were expended.
The meeting was informed that DPR of Rs 1.3 crore for plantation drive at Gurwatan to Sangam has been submitted for reclaiming the degraded forest of 150 hectares. Besides, it was said that land for waste dumping has been identified at Chaki-Watoo.
With respect to previous DDB decisions, it was said that 12 decisions have been implemented, while as 11 decisions have been partially implemented and rest are under execution. Giving brief of the works done, the SE PHE briefed the DDC that in Home ShaliBugh, two filtration plants have been completed which will cater to a population of 15000 souls. Under R&B sector, 12 kms of road length has been macadamized, besides, the work on Laroo- Labdipora road has been completed while as, work on Waltengo-Qazigund road, Ziyarat Sharief road Gudder, Tengjan- Damdulla Bridge and Akhal-Khulshar is under execution, the meeting was informed. It was given out that Education Department has identified 6 schools to be developed as Model Schools. The CEO informed that Rs 7 lakh have been released under RMSA for development of infrastructure in these schools. He apprised that work on 10 new school buildings is in full swing, while as the Department has trained 3000 teachers during the past 4 months which is highest in the State. It was said that work on the Science block at the Government Degree College has been completed. Besides, admission process in GNV, Kulgam has begun. The DPR for the environmental park at DH Pora has been submitted for necessary approval. Xen PDD informed that the transformer for upgradation of grid station from 30 to 70 MVA is ready for installation and shall be completed soon.
With respect to skill development, Under NRLM, 180 self help groups are operating in the District while as under handicraft sector, 17 centres are already functional imparting skills among the poor and backward classes so as to make them economically resilient.
