Demonetisation: CBDCA demands interim relief

Kozhikode, November 24
Co-Operative Bank Deposit Collectors Association (CBDCA) has demanded interim relief for about 25,000 workers hit hard in the wake of demonetisation of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 currency notes by the Centre earlier this month. Talking to reporters here today, CBDCA General Secretary Dinesh Perumanna said the vast section of deposit collectors, working on meagre commission and their dependents were hit hard as they lost their commission due to shortage of fund.
Excluding cooperative banks and primary societies from transacting scrapped Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 dampened its functioning affecting the deposit collectors too, he said, adding cash crunch faced by trade sector also resulted in adverse impact. These and major other issues facing the sector would be deliberated in detail in the state conference of CBDCA here on November 26.
CBDCA State President and former Minister K Muraleedharan, MLA would inaugurate the meet where Indian Union Muslim League leader and ex-minister M K Muneer, MLA would be the chief guest. Senior Congress leader M K Raghavan, MP would inaugurate delegate meet, he added.
