A meeting of officers held under the chairmanship of District Election Officer Kupwara Anshul Garg (IAS) in mini meeting hall of DC office complex to review the necessary arrangements at each polling stations in the District.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Farooq Ahmad Baba, Chief Education Officer Kupwara, DSEO Kupwara (Nodal Officer Basic Facilities at camping Sites), Executive Engineer PHE Division Kupwara/Handwara, Executive Engineer R&B Division Kupwara/Handwara Executive Engineer PDD Division Kupwara/Handwara.
Chief Education Officer Kupwara presented the verification report of all polling stations related to electrification, water supply, availability of ramps, basic minimum facilities provided to Security forces at each polling station and other facilities.
On the occasion DEO directed the concerned agencies to gear up their field functionaries to ensure setting up of all basic minimum facilities at all polling stations across the district within a given time frame.
Later the first phase of randomisation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) for Lok Sabha Elections 2019 was done in the meeting hall of DC office complex under the supervision of Deputy District Election Officer in presence of ENT, senior officials and representatives of political parties.
The first phase of randomisation was done for allocation of Ballot Units, Control Units and VVPATs for five assembly segments of the district. 693 EVMs were allocated to five segments of the district.
Speaking on the occasion, the Dy, DEO said that the aim of randomisation is to ensure free and fair elections with no human intervention as the randomisation is being done by dedicated software for the purpose.
