With an aim to provide financial assistance to the wards of martyred Police personnel, the Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh has sanctioned a scholarship of over Rs 2.30 lakh in favour of 28 such wards, a police spokesman said.
In a statement, he added that the scholarship has been sanctioned out of the Central Police Education Fund for the academic session 2020-21 in favour of wards of martyred police personnel who are pursuing their education from primary to university level.
“Under this order, the scholarship of Rs 2400 each has been granted in favour of six wards of police martyrs who are studying in primary classes. While Rs 6000 each has been sanctioned in favour of those three wards who are pursuing middle education,” the spokesman said.
Similarly, the scholarship of Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 has been granted in favour of 19 wards of police martyrs who are pursuing higher education.Police headquarters is running various scholarship schemes which include scholarships for wards of serving/deceased/martyred Police personnel/SPOs for class 10th and 12th.
Special reward is also given to the students who perform exceptionally in the college/universities and technical courses. Rewards are also given to the wards who crack competitive exams like UPSC, JKPSC, NEET, NET, CSIR etc.
