Bandipora, April 22
In order to sensitize people and officials about disaster management and preparedness, a daylong awareness programme was held at High School Laharwalpora Bandipora today.
The programme was organized by J&K Association of Social Workers (JKASW) in collaboration with CARITAS India under Shirkat Project in which Deputy Chief Education Officer Bandipora, Officers from District Administration and SDRF, Members of District Disaster Management Authority Bandipora, besides a good number of locals participated.
On the occasion, the organizers said that 10 flood prone villages in the vicinity of Wullar Lake were identified, out of which, seven villages have so far been covered under the training project.
During the programme, necessary training was provided to participants with regard to preparedness of natural disasters like floods, fire incidents, earth quake, landslides, wind storm etc. Disaster Management experts also explained in detail about precautionary measures to be taken in case of any eventuality to minimize losses.
