Doda, April 21
Doctors Association of District Hospital Doda today suspended the routine work included OPD against the alleged suspension of Dr Rakesh Kumar, Consultant Surgeon. However, the emergency services and ward work were kept out of the purview of the strike in order to avoid any inconvenience to the general public. A huge rush of patients was witnessed in Out Patient Departments (OPDs) of almost every department. Early in the morning doctors organised a silent protest and demonstration in the premises of District Hospital Doda and demanded immediate revocation of the suspension of the doctor and said all allegations leveled against the doctor is only wrong propaganda to defame his image as he is a honest and dedicated specialist and said suspension order is unethical, high headed and deplorable attitude of administration.
“How can one suspend a senior doctor without any formal enquiry or explanation? Such should not happen in future and in this concern we want a written assurance from the higher authorities if not then our strike will remain continue”, said Dr Aftab and Dr Sushil.
They said the routine work will remain suspended in the hospital till association will meet again tomorrow and decide the future course of action. “We will not resume the routine work till illegal suspensions will not be revoked” said Dr Rajiv Kotwal, Dr Tariq, Dr Faheem and Dr Menakshi all senior members of the association.
They said, “The suspension of Dr Rakesh Kumar is unjustified and illegal. The suspension is against Supreme Court judgment wherein a doctor cannot be held liable for negligence unless established by an expert panel.”
However, when contacted, Chief Medical Officer Doda, Dr Wajid Najar informed that doctors are on strike and he had personally approached striking doctors to call off the strike and resume the work and added that he also requested to district administration for revocation of suspension order of Dr Rakesh Kumar.
