Dr Yogita Rana IAS, an alumni of Jammu medical college got into Indian Administrative Service in 2003 has received the award from Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for her outstanding works in New Delhi.
The central government duly recognizing her outstanding work in eNAM selected, Dr. Yogita Rana for Prime Minister Award in Public Administration 2017. Over 590 districts in the country have competed for this prestigious and covetous award which is given to a civil servant on civil services day 2017 on 21.04.2017.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has personally handed over the award to Dr Yogita Rana amidst a pompous and glittering gathering of 3000 civil servants. The award included a citation and Rs 10 lakhs prize money.
Dr Yogita Rana intends to spend prize money for various public development works and welfare of poor in the District of Nizamabad.
Dr Yogita Rana had spent six years of her service in various tribal areas of Andhra and Telangana states. The tribal areas like Bhadrachalam and Rampachodavaram were the most backward areas of the state with under currents of Naxal activities. She implemented Umeed a special project of ministry of rural development in Jammu and Kashmir as a representative of UNDP. Umeed is aimed at bringing social transformation of rural women through formation of self help groups. She has been working as District Collector Nizamabad since 2014. During her stint as District Collector she took up various initiatives for welfare of down trodden and women. She established Manavatha Centre in Nizamabad district which services as centre for welfare of orphans of HIV affected parents. Her initiative increased institutional deliveries from 20% to 60% in government hospitals which won the accolades of the state government. On this initiative she even went to the extent of preparing an Expected Date of Delivery (EDD) for each primary health centre of Nizamabad District Telangana State, for the purpose of effective monitoring. Dr. Yogita Rana received the best District Collector award from the government of Telangana in 2016 in recognition of her work to increase the green cover in the District of Nizamabad. In the year 2016 she also bagged a national award from ministry of rural development, GOI for her excellent work taken up under MNREGA in Nizamabad district.
