Apart from fighting insurgency and bringing peace to the region, the Army has taken on the mantle of empowering women in the far-flung areas of the state. As part of this initiative the Rashtriya Rifle unit at Kalal under the aegis of Reasi based Counter Insurgency Force Headquarters and Regional Transport Office (RTO), Rajouri conducted a Driving Course for the women of nearby village Kheri of Rajouri district.
The 23 days long course was attend by 10 women under the flagship programme Op Sadhbhavana. The women were imparted driving lessons comprising both practical and theoretical aspects, including maintenance of the vehicle. In addition to imparting driving training, liaison with Regional Transport Office (RTO), Rajouri has been carried out to issue learning license to all the trainees.
Speaking on the occasion, the Sarpanch of village said that the various initiatives by the Army, especially for the women, will assist in the all-round socio economic development of the region.
