Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety

The Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated across the Ramban district with religious fervour and gaiety. Following a heavy downpour last night accompanied with lightning and thunder although there was an apprehension of inclement weather playing the spoil sport to the Eid festivity yet the weather improved before the Eid namaz here today.
According to the official sources, the biggest congregation of Eid namaz was witnessed at the Markazi Eidgah ground, Banihal wherein about 16000 devotees offered their Eid namaz in a peaceful atmosphere.
About 7500, 5500, 4000, 1500 and 800 devotees offered their Eid namaz at the Jamia Masjid or Eidgah grounds of Gool, Batote, Ramban, Chanderkot and Ramsu respectively.
There was a heavy arrangement of security in the main towns of the district with cops of JKP, CRPF and SSB deputed in large number near all the Eidgahs and mosques besides along the route of the procession under the supervision of senior police officers and Executive Magistrates including the senior Prosecuting Officers deputed specially for the purpose.
The markets of the major towns in the district wore a festive look and were abuzz with the shoppers.
The District Development Commissioner (DDC), Ramban Mohammad Aijaz and Senior Superintendent of Police, Ramban Randeep Kumar along with officers of district administration extending greetings to the Muslim brethren.
While interacting with the people DDC said that such religious occasions inspire us to follow the spiritual preaching of great saints and Sufis, who sacrificed their lives for the cause of humanity, to lead a peaceful and prosperous life.
He asserted that Eid-ul- Fitr reminds us of our responsibility towards poor and needy and inculcates the spirit of sharing happiness and joy with everyone.
