Elderly man shot dead for resisting eve teasing; 3 held weapon seized

An elderly person was today shot dead allegedly by a man and his two sons over lodging eve teasing complaint at their home in the Selli area of district Jammu, under the jurisdiction of police station Jhajjar Kotli.

According to police sources the deceased Sita Ram (58) son of Amar Nath resident of Selli went to the house of Kashmiri Lal to lodge complaint against his sons for allegedly teasing his daughter.

Reports said that Devi Das son of Basant got irate over the lodging of complaint against his sons namely Moti Lal and Kashmiri Lal. The trio abused the complainant, thrashed him besides threatened him of dire consequences.

Sources disclosed that after the exchange of heated arguments between the trio, Kashmiri Lal brought out his 12 bore rifle and shot at Sita Ram resulting into his on spot death.

After the killing, trio accused fled from the spot, leaving Sita Ram into pool of blood while police also rushed to the spot that was informed by the nearby people. After taking the body into its custody police shifted it to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Dansal for the autopsy.

Police after registering a case under FIR number 127 Under Section 302 and Arms act at police station Jajjahr Kotli launched a massive manhunt and arrested all the three accused besides recovered and seized the rifle used in the shot out.

Police sources said that after completing all the documentation and other legal formalities the body will be handed over to its legal heirs for the last rights.
