ENPO of Nagaland decides to leave responsibility to tribes for ULB polls

The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) has virtually washed its hand off and decided to leave it ‘to the understanding and responsibility of the respective tribes, Chang, Khiamniungan, Konyak, Phom, Sangtam and Yimchunger, in the matter of conducting Municipal and Town Councils elections in ENPO areas.
According to a statement issued, a resolution to this effect was taken at an emergency consultation meeting of ENPO held at Dimapur yesterday and also, in reference to the Chief Minister’s response to its query earlier, the ENPO stated.
It would not be “held responsible in any manner in the event of infringement upon Article 371(A) of the Indian Constitution by holding Nagaland ULBs election with reservation of seats for women under Nagaland Municipal (Third Amendment) Act 2016 now and in the future,” it said.
