Ensure equitable distribution of central funds under PM package: CF

Jammu Tawi: Citizens Forum Jammu (CF) president and former state treasurer of PDP, R K Chadha welcomed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s initiative in ordering probe into Rs 80 crore embezzlement by the department of health of the J&K State allegedly by diverting the funds meant for release of salaries towards the projects that do not either exist at all or exist only on papers. In a press note issued here, Chadha said, “We do not want the funds released by centre for various development works in J&K should either go into wrong hands and get embezzled with or they be spent only in one region while other regions get ignored.” Therefore it is demanded that instead of handing over of the money to state agencies, various central agencies should be provided with these funds to utilize them in works for J&K, Chadha said. The CF president quoting a report in a section of press said, “The chief minister Mehbooba Mufti has herself ordered a high level enquiry into the matter and has sought report within the period of one month about how the funds released by the central government for the monthly salaries of Health and Family Welfare Employees were diverted to some unknown projects. Chadha also alleged that funds allocated for tourism development are inadequate and stated that the amount is only a peanut as far as spending on tourism sector is concerned.
