Every right thinking citizen desires peaceful co-existence: Dr Jitendra

Lauding the composite ethos of Indo-Gangetic civilization, which is a hallmark of Varanasi and Uttar Pradesh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said here that every right thinking citizen of India, regardless of whether he is Hindu or Muslim, desires peaceful co-existence and whenever or wherever there is a situation of strife, it is invariably the creation of certain mischievous elements with vested interests.
Dr Jitendra Singh was speaking to a delegation of Shia Muslims from Varanasi led by Haji Hamidul Hasan.
In a meeting lasting over 40 minutes, the delegation discussed the current scenario in Uttar Pradesh and also the issues faced by Shia Muslim community.
The members of delegation drew the attention of Dr Jitendra Singh to some of their concerns related to Waqf property and sought his intervention for appropriate redressal of their grievances. They also assured the Minister that their entire community was committed to nationalist ethos and stood solidly behind the policies and programmes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Dr Jitendra Singh assured the members of delegation that a due cognizance would be taken of the concerns expressed by them and grievances put forward by them. He said, the Modi Government is committed to protect the interests of all the communities and ensure their equitable growth in the fast track course to development witnessed in last two years.
The members of delegation also handed over documents to Dr Jitendra Singh, citing their grievances and alleged injustice meted out to them by the Uttar Pradesh Government.
Besides Haji Hamidul Hasan, other members of the delegation included Advocate M A M Firdousi, Advocate Jafar Imam, Qauser Ali, Advocate Niyaz Hussain and Niyaz Haider.
