Ex Minister Babu Azgaonkar, GCA Secretary Balu Phadke join MGP

Panaji, December 18
Senior Congress leader and former Minister Babu Azgaonkar and Goa Cricket Association (GCA) Secretary Balu Phadke joined Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) here today.
They joined the regional party in the presence of MGP president Deepak Dhavalikar, MGP leader and former minister Sudin Dhavalikar and MLA Lavoo Mamledar, among others. Azgaonkar has switched his political allegiance several times.
He started his career in Congress, then he joined BJP in 2002 and won the seat. He returned to Congress in 2007 and retained the seat. However, he was defeated in 2012 election by Rajendra Arlekar.
It was second incident of a senior leader leaving Congress within two days. On December 16, former Minister Mauvin Godinho joined BJP in the presence of Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and party president Vinay Tendulkar.
