Accusing government of eroding importance of legislature, senior National Conference leader and former minister Mohammad Akbar Lone on Monday said that he was not informed about the visit of officials to his constituency.
He accused local MLC Yasir Reshi of hijacking the official visit in order to demean the institution of legislature. Controversy broke out during the review meeting of the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora and directorate of local bodies in the area on Monday.
Lone said that the protocol demanded that he should have been informed and invited instead a local MLC from ruling party Yasir Reshi accompanied the officers. Lone said that the officers are after the prize posting and are thus busy in pleasing the ruling class but said the practice was aimed to erode the sanctity of the legislative institution. He said he would raise the issue in the coming assembly session.
Meanwhile rubbishing the accusation of Lone, PDP leader and MLC Yasir Reshi said that the former minster was unnerved after realizing that his era of ‘hooliganism’ was over and said PDPs prime agenda was to ensure the development of the state.
Reshi said that Lone during previous regime had resorted to malpractices and ‘hooliganism’ and was trying to shield his ‘misdeeds’ by pressurizing the officers. He alleged that former minster was involved in ‘illegal’ appointments which need to be probed. He said that he was also a MLC and entitled to review the official meetings.
