Excise Deptt foils another attempt of smuggling liquor at Lakhanpur

Excise Department at Toll Post Lakhanpur foiled another attempt to smuggle liquor into the State.
During the intensified checking at the entry point of the State, the officials of Excise Department detected 48 bottles of IMFL (24 bottles of Royal Stag + 24 bottles of Old Monk XXX Rum) being illegally transported into the State in a public transport bus. These bottles have been manufactured by M/s Pernod Ricard India Pvt Ltd., 25 mile stone NH-22 Village Ghollu Majra Tehsil Dera Bassi District SAS Nagar Mohali Punjab and M/s Mohan Meakin Ltd, Mohan Gram Bhankarpur Distt. SAS Nagar Mohali Punjab and are meant for sale in Punjab only. The bottles were being carried clandestinely by Nasib Singh r/o Village Chak Ram Chand P.O. Sunjwan Samba.
The accused along with the seized liquor has been handed over to Excise & Taxation Officer, Kathua Range for proceeding further under the provisions of J&K Excise Act. The detection was made successful by the efforts of Task Force constituted for the purpose at Toll Post Lakhanpur and comprises of Excise & Taxation Officers,  G.L. Sharma,  V.S. Billoria,  P. Shamsuduha and Inspectors  Ishtyaq Ahmad and  Rajeev Gupta along with Excise Guard Anil Choudhary.
Tsering Angchok,  Excise Commissioner, appreciated the efforts of the Excise Team at Lakhanpur headed by  Rajesh Sharma, Deputy Excise Commissioner, Toll Post Lakhanpur, for making the instant detection and enjoined upon them to make all out efforts to thwart the nefarious designs of smugglers/ evaders.
