Excise officials seized 1000 kgs of polythene

Continuing with their efforts to check the entry of banned items into the State and acting under the guidance of Mohd. Javed Khan Excise Commissioner, J&K the sleuths of Excise Department at Toll Post Kote Punnu (Minor Toll Post) foiled a major bid to smuggle “polythene” when 1000 kgs polythene was seized from a Mahindra Pickup bearing registration No. JK20-5206 entering the State today.
As per the documents, the vehicle was carrying tissue paper vide invoice No.R-41 dated 26-04-2017. However, on physical checking, it was found to be carrying 1000 kg of polythene concealed beneath tissue paper. The evaders tried to import banned polythene by importing the same in the garb of tissue paper belonging to M/s Vig Paper Converter, B 25, 368/1, Karabar Road New Sabji Mandi Ludhiana. The vehicle alongwith seized Polythene is being handed over to the Pollution Control Board, for further action under relevant rules.The whole operation was conducted by the Excise and Taxation Officer, Ajay Bharti, Inspector Ashok Khajuria, Mohd Younis and Sub-Inspector, Balbinder Singh, Under the overall supervision of Rajesh Sharma DC Toll Post Lakhanpur.
