In order to curb the menace of illicit distillation liquor, the Excise department has tightened its noose on violators of the various provisions of J&K Excise Act in entire Jammu Divison. Team of excise department on Wednesday conducted a series of raids across Kathua district in which more than 850 Kgs of Lahan and illict liquor destroyed. According to the official spokesperson, under the directions of the Excise Commissioner Mohd. Javed Khan and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Mr. Ghanshyam Singh, the Excise Team Kathua led by ETO Excise Range Kathua, Sandeep Gupta, Inspector Arun Kumar along with others raids here in Kathua zone. “The excise team raided Chakdrabkhan, Dadoli and Sumwan areas of district Kathua to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor and In the process over 850 kilograms of Lahan, 45 bottles and 20 pouches of illicit liquor, which is highly hazardous and injurious for health were recovered by the raiding team from state land was destroyed on spot. During the course of raids one person namely Bodhraj S/o Balkar Chand R/o Chakdrabkhan, Kathua was booked under sec 48(a) of J&K Excise Act for possession of illicit liquor, he added.”
