Owing to war-alert and augmented threat perception after surgical strikes in POK, the securities agencies are facing tough time due to the advent of Navratra festival during which plethora of public gatherings are being made for the celebrations at across the city of temples.
Not only during the day time when there is surplus rush in the markets and other public places, night are also full of public gatherings in the form of ‘Night Vigils’ commonly known as ‘Jagrans’ across the Jammu and providing security to such a huge gathering presently is a challenging task for the police and other intelligence forces.
Though, the police on other hand has claimed that full proof security arrangement have been put in place and eye on every suspected movement is being kept by them for providing safe and secure atmosphere to the masses.
But, in the present situation when there is escalation in the border tension and Pakistan is also giving repeated threats, the beginning of festive season has multiplied the worries as during the night, several ‘Jagrans’ are being organized by the Jammuiites which attracts large number of people from all walk of life and identifying an odd man in such situation is almost impossible.
In Jammu people use to organized ‘Jagrans’ at various locations and sites which included R S Pura, Miran Sahib, Satwari, Gandhi Nagar, Bus Stand, Railway Station, Trikuta Nagar, Kunjwani, Janipur etc during the Navratras and keeping this in mind special security arrangements have been made by the police at these locations in advance.
DIG, Jammu-Kathua range-Ashkur Wani when asked said that the owing to war alert special deployment has been made for the providing security cover to the people at night especially those attending ‘Jagrans’. He further said that not only the police even the other security forces are also on job to assure safety of the public.
“As in Jammu most of the ‘Jagrans’ are organized on roads or road sides which attracts more and more gathering, we considering this point have requested the public to take permission from the concerned authorities so that proper security could be provided timely.
