Film maker Vidhu Vinod Chopra calls on Dr Jitendra

March 5: Noted Bollywood film-maker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, producer of popular movies like “Munna Bhai MBBS”, “Lage Raho Munna Bhai”, “3 Idiots”, “PK” and “Wazir”, today called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh to discuss with him his new film project based in the backdrop of Kashmir.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who originally hails from the State of Jammu & Kashmir and had specially flown in from Mumbai to the union capital to discuss his new film project, said that he had spent the formative years of his life in Srinagar where he obtained his school and college education. He had therefore felt moved to produce a film depicting the saga of Kashmir during the last 25 years, particularly in the backdrop of the plight of displaced Kashmiri Pandit community.
Chopra said, he would also be visiting J&K next week and spending two days in Jammu to conduct some research on the project and also meet different sections of people. He said, the theme of the film came from his heart and after producing a number of international box office hits which had made huge business within India and abroad, he felt he owed it to his State and his people to produce a film on the theme being envisaged by him.
Dr Jitendra Singh discussed the various facets of the film project conceived by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and his team. He suggested to them to submit  a comprehensive written brief / representation mentioning the salient features of the project and at the same time, what precisely is expected by them from the government . Accordingly, only thereafter, the government will be able to take a view, he said.
