Government forces on Monday cordoned off Bhawan Watser village of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district and conducted searches as they suspected the presence of some militants.
Official sources told that the contingents of army and Special Operation Group (SOG) cordoned off Bhawan Watser village which is close to the forests and started searches.
A police official while confirming the cordon-and-search operation in the area told that some suspected militants are believed to be hiding inside the village.
“Some warning shots has been fired towards the suspected spot, however, there was no response from the other side”, the officer said.
Locals said that the forces have sealed all the entry and exit points.
The area continues to be under forces’ siege and there was no exchange of gunfire when this report was being filed.
