Fire has engulfed a large forest stretch along the Line of Control (LoC) in Balakote sector of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials and witnesses said on Monday.
They said the fire has trigerred several landmine explosions in the area.
Reports said that fire broke out on the Pakistani side of Line of Control on Sunday evening and spread over to areas on the Poonch side.
“The fire is escalating due to dry season and has now covered a major portion along the border,” said a senior police officer.
He said that eight landmine explosions have been reported so far from the area.
