Forest fire breaks out in Bhaderwah

Massive forest fire broke out in Berru compartment number 1 of forest area of Bhaderwah forest division. Teams of officials from the Forest Department were constituted to douse the fire and stop it from spreading towards other compartments and nearby villages, DFO Bhaderwah T B Singh informed.
He said the flames were brought under control. “Forests are every year put on fire by nomads who move to the higher reaches along with their livestock in summers in search of greener pastures,” he added.”The fire destroyed dry grass, which was controlled by the forest staff; T B Singh informed and added no loss to trees has been reported from the areas. However, dry grass has been damaged in area,” he said. “We are trying our best to contain the fire and have so far succeeded in stopping it from spreading to the adjoining areas,” Singh said.
