The fourth Tawi Bridge closed before Amarnath Yatra is still closed for repairs, causing untold misery and inconveniences to the people of the city.
According to available information, JK PCC has announced to open the bridge on August 1 and later on postponed till August 10 but the repairing work has still not completed.
The people said that they are forced to pass through long route of canal road due to closure of fourth bridge, adding that heavy traffic and frequent traffic jam is also adding their woes. Pertinent to mention here, the authorities closed down the 4th bridge on Tawi, just days before start of Amarnath yatra, without giving any prior information to the public. Many believe, the JKPCC authorities deliberately closed the bridge before the onset of monsoon as the approach road to the bridge which was washed away the previous year faced danger of erosion this year also.
It is surprising how district authorities allowed them to close the bridge despite Amarnath yatra starting within a couple of days after the move.
People have meanwhile appealed to the district authorities to ensure resumption of vehicular traffic on the bridge at the earliest to save people from further inconvenience.
