Fresh avalanche warning in J&K, Kashmir highway

Srinagar, Mar 12 (UNI) A fresh avalanche warning has been issued on Monday evening for next 24 hours in the Jammu and Kashmir, including on the highway, the only road linking the valley with the rest of the country.

There is also forecast for wet weather in the Kashmir valley during the next 24 hours. An official spokesman said here this evening that on the basis of information received from SASE, Low danger avalanche warning has been issued for Baramulla, Gulmarg, Furkian-Z Gali and Kupwara-Chowkibal-Tangdhar in north Kashmir.

Similar warning has been issued for Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar Udhampur in Jammu region. He said there is also threat of avalanche in Anantnag, Kulgam, Budgam, Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal Kargil and Leh Districts, Bandipora-Kanzalwan-Gurez sector and Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. People living in these avalanche prone areas have been advised by the Disaster Management Authority to take precautionary measures.
