Jammu Tawi, April 30
Urging upon the visiting BJP national president, Amit Shah to honour the election time promises made to the people of Jammu region, Harsh Dev Singh Jammu and Kashmir Panthers Party (JKNPP) chairman and former minister said that the BJP’s political constituency had suffered the worst neglect and discrimination under the present regime.
In a press statement issued here wherein Harsh Dev Singh said that the people of Jammu region had given an unprecedented and overwhelming mandate to BJP in last Assembly Elections under the belief that bias against Jammu would be undone and Dogra land compensated for all injustice done to it in the past. He said that the gullible people of Jammu region were lured and mesmerized by the grandiloquent promises of the central and state BJP leaders during elections who abandoned their respective political parties to ensure a landslide victory for BJP. He regretted that the delivery on the promises during the last more than two years rule had been in inverse proportion to the articulation of such high pitched slogans with not a single promise having been redeemed. He said that BJP had utterly failed to allay the ingrained perception in Jammu that it had sold its principles for power. Drawing the attention of Amit Shah to some of the election time promises of BJP which were incorporated in its Election manifesto as well, Singh regretted its complete surrender especially over the issues of PRC rights for west Pak refugees, delimitation of assembly constituencies, reservation of five seats in Assembly for POJK migrants and 3 seats for Kashmir migrants, abolition of custodian Department and granting ownership rights to its occupants, 33% reservation for women in Assembly, Sate Subject and property rights to the children of daughters of J&K married to non State Subjects, 6% vertical reservation to ex-servicemen and martyrs families, grant of ex-gratia to families of martyrs, allotment of 5 marals plots to border dwellers in safe zones etc. He regretted that the u-turn taken by the saffron party on such issues had caused huge commotion and disenchantment in the region and called for initiation of steps for early implementation of the said assurances.
