Life remained paralysed on Saturday in Kashmir valley on the call of Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani to demand disbanding of the Village Defence Committees (VDCs).
All shops and business establishments remained closed in Kashmir capital Srinagar while public transport remained off the roads.
Similar reports were received from other district headquarters of the valley.
Geelani had called for a shutdown to protest against what he termed as VDC terror.
The octogenarian leader also threatened of an agitation if the group was not disbanded.
Three people, including a mother-son duo and a political worker, were killed by VDC members in Rajouri district during past week.
