JK General Line Teachers Forum (GLTF) on Wednesday decided to stay away from the protest called by Chairman School Education Employees Coordination Committee (SEECC) on January 30.
In a handout issued here today, the forum said it wouldn’t support the strike call given by ‘some teacher associations’ on January 30 stating that the forum “does not believe in strike politics”.
Chairman GLTF also extended his support to the Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) for “taking steps for the betterment of the derailed education sector of the valley”.
The forum has also convened a meeting of the core members which was attended by all the district presidents of GLTF.
The meeting was chaired by Chairman GLTF Anwar Hussain Wani.
“Chairman praised the steps taken by the Director for the betterment of education sector and said that department has every right to transfer the teachers where ever they like for the benefit of the student community and no teacher should have hindrance in that,” the statement reads.
Vice President GLTF, Gulshan Ahmad Magray, as per the handout, has appealed the intellectuals Principals, educationists and civil society members to break their silence and come forward for supporting the steps taken for the reformation of the education sector.
