Gloom transcended at the residence of a BSF man, whose both sons were washed away today in the gushing waters of River Tawi, during birthday celebrations of elder son.
Two real brothers, Surya Pratap (19) and Adarsh (15), sons of a BSF Head Constable posted in Delhi, washed away at the Harki Paudi temple ghat when they were taking bath in the water stream.
The siblings had come to the spot with a friend-Rajan Kumar, son of Vinod Kumar, to celebrate Surya Pratap’s birthday.
“The trio reached the spot on a two wheeler bearing registration number JK02AR-0154, which they parked outside the temple but did not deposit their mobile phones,” security personnel said.
Meanwhile, eyewitnesses said, “They went to the Tawi stream at the ghat and began clicking pictures. After some time Adarsh went to river for taking bath and Surya Pratap and Rajan Kumar also joined him.”
Due to rains in upper reached, especially catchments of Udhampur, a sudden gush of water washed away the boys following which a search operation was launched.
According to witnesses, trio reached middle of the river, when suddenly water level rose. “They had sensed the flow of water in the river, but panicked trio could not reach the shores, though they tried hard. One of them, Rajan managed to cling to a wall, which gave him support to reach the safe place and was later on rescued by the team of SDRF, but team could not save the brothers,” said witnesses.
SHO Bagh-e-Bahu, Vijay Kumar said, “Both brothers from Bihar at present residing at BSF Paloura and came here to celebrate birthday along with their friend”, added that due to rains, a sudden flash floods swept both the brothers while their friend Rajan reached the banks of the river.
Police tried to rescue them but failed to reach him then the team of SDRF led by DySP Madan Mohan Singh Jamwal came along with his five personnel and with their hectic efforts they rescued Rajan Kumar, said SHO said and added that still there is no information on the two brothers so far.
Meanwhile, the reports came to the house of BSF Head Constable Prabhu Nath Paloura that his two sons washed away in River Tawi.
Prabunath, who is posted in New Delhi while mother Usha Devi alone at home while their daughter is studying in Lucknow (UP).
Mother Usha Devi who had special plans to celebrate Surya Pratap (19) birthday remained craving to see the bodies of her sons. Though she has not lost hopes and is sure that god cannot be so cruel to her.
